Microstent for minimally invasive treatment of Fallopian tube occlusions – porcine implantation ex vivo

چکیده
Abstract Involuntary female infertility represents a sensitive issue, which is frequently caused by an impaired patency of the Fallopian tube. Current treatment options, such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF) or tubal reconstruction, are related to high costs surgical risks. Therefore, need for alternative highly safe and effective minimally invasive therapy option assumed. The current work presents proof-of-concept novel microstent combination with delivery system proximal tube occlusions. For this purpose, prototype was implanted into porcine ex vivo using presented system. results procedure were analyzed micro-computed tomography (μ-CT). Based on μ-CT imaging, critical parameters microstent, radial patency, assessed. implantation leads increased opening area Additionally, does not impair anatomical shape epithelium adapts well path. In further studies, functionality will be examined after vivo.

Ex Vivo Culture of Primary Human Fallopian Tube Epithelial Cells
Epithelial ovarian cancer is a leading cause of female cancer mortality in the United States. In contrast to other women-specific cancers, like breast and uterine carcinomas, where death rates have fallen in recent years, ovarian cancer cure rates have remained relatively unchanged over the past two decades (1). This is largely due to the lack of appropriate screening tools for detection of ear...
متن کاملA Reproducible Ex Vivo Model for Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery
BACKGROUND Rectal tumors can be excised through a number of minimally invasive transanal techniques including transanal excision, transanal endoscopic microsurgery, and transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS). Specialty training is often required to master the nuances of these approaches. This study aimed to create a reproducible transanal excision training model that is suited for laparoe...

INTRODUCTION The human body was not designed to facilitate surgical repair. Thus, in order to minimize collateral damage to healthy tissue, many interventions require following complex curved paths through tissue and body lumens to reach surgical targets. The smallest existing instrument technologies utilizing this approach are comprised of catheters and endoscopes for passing through body lume...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Treatment of Intrauterine Fallopian Tube Incarceration
Herniation of the pelvic structures into the uterine cavity (appendix vermiformis, small bowel, omentum, or fallopian tube) may occur after uterine perforation. In this paper, we describe one case of intrauterine fallopian tube incarceration treated by means of laparoscopic surgery.
